How to Measure Your Feet
An accurate foot measurement takes under two minutes and makes the difference between a perfect fit and a return. Here's how to do it right.
Gather what you need
A sheet of A4 paper (or any flat paper large enough for your foot), a pen or pencil, a ruler or tape measure, and a wall.
Measure at the right time
Feet are largest in the afternoon and evening after a day of activity. Measure then for the most accurate result — morning measurements can be up to half a size smaller.
Wear the right socks
Wear the same socks you plan to wear with the shoes. Dress socks for formal shoes; thicker socks for boots and sneakers.
Trace your foot
Place the paper on a hard floor against a wall. Stand on it with your heel pressed firmly against the wall. Hold the pen vertical (perpendicular to the floor) and trace around your entire foot, keeping the pen close to the foot at all times.
Measure the length
Draw a straight line from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe (usually the big toe, but not always). Measure this line in centimetres. This is your foot length.
Measure both feet
Most people have one foot slightly larger than the other. Always measure both feet and use the larger measurement to select your size.
Match to the chart
Find your foot length in the size chart for your gender and select the corresponding EU size. If you land between two sizes, go up. For leather shoes, it's fine to go true-to-size as the leather will stretch and mould to your foot over time.
